The hotel image is as below.
We stayed in Paris Hotel as well, and the hotel owner Walied did exactly the same thing to us too. We hired the taxi through him for a day, and planned to visit Giza, Memphis, Saqqara, and Dashur in one day. The night before the trip, the other guy in Paris hotel approached us in the elevator, and said he has something to tell us about the trip tomorrow. He said that *you can't drive the car into the Giza area, the only way to get in is if you hire the camel/horse*. The guidebook (Lonely Planet) we have did not mention things about this at all, but we were not sure if it is the new rules. So then we said, okay, if this is the case and if we must hire the camel, then we will. But by that time, we thought it would be we go into the pyramids area by ourselves, and hire the camels there by ourselves as the guidebook described. I believe it should be around 25LE per hour. So.. on the day of the pyramids trip, the driver stopped the car in front of a staple, and an old man (who I believe is the staple owner) came out and said, Welcome! Paris Hotel? And the he pretends to be nice, said that he loves our country... then asked us to pay 550LE per person, or 100 USD, to ride the camels to visit the 3 Giza pyramids and the Sphinx, and the sunset camel ridings; he actually mentioned the lunch is included too, also the tickets. He mentioned 2 other camel riding packages, 400 LE per person to visit 3 pyramids and the Sphinx, also tickes included; 300 LE tickes are not included. I think these Egyptians must think the tourists are idiots, so they are asking us to pay them 100USD (which could be their salary for a month) to ride the camels for 3 hours?! I really don't see why so many people here in this forum defined Walied as such a nice person, actually he turned out to be some bitch who only wants to fool the tourists around. And then pretends to be nice and innocent after he got your money from your pocket. We actually booked our room through Hostel.com, and just on our arrival ( not even 15 min), he actually insisted us to write a good review for his hotel. I guess that's how he got such a nice review layouts on Hostel.com. We actually met 4 other Taiwanese on our trip to the White desset 2 days ago, and they were staying in Paris Hotel as well. They told us that they've been taken to the staple on their Giza trip as well, and had been asked to pay 30 USD per person for baksheshee. But they refused to pay, and insisted to walk back to the staple instead of by the camels. However, they've already arranged their whole trip in Egypt through Walied, poor them.. I don't know how much commission fees they've paid to that *nice*, *gentle* man from Paris Hotel. We've been to Luxor, Aswan, Sharm El-Sheikh, and every hotels we stayed had the breakfast included, however, the guy in Paris Hotel never mentioned a word about it. So now.. we stayed in Lialy Hotel in Cairo, where offers great breakfast and the owner Mostafa is friendly. But, again, never trust anyone here.
I hope everyone has a nice and safe trip in Egypt.
